Eye contact, a soft voice, a gentle touch; the earliest social interactions a baby will experience; instinctively it is the way parents get to know and bond with their baby. Within weeks babies respond, maintaining eye contact, mimicking facial expressions, smiling, waving and kicking. This is learned behaviour through supported infant play.
A positive playful environment teaches babies about themselves and the world around them; it supports physical and cognitive development. Babies learn to move and control their bodies; learn how to communicate; to express themselves and their emotions; speech advances; and as older children they respond more effectively to problem solving; and are better able to convey their imagination and creativity. Supported infant play also contributes to babies emotional well being by providing comfort and security.
You and your baby are welcome to join us at Family and Friends as soon as you feel ready. Our farm themed baby corner is filled with durable and sustainable toys from the popular the Little Dutch range. With a comfortable, padded, wipe clean base, this recent addition to our playroom provides a safe, appealing environment where babies can enjoy new experiences through sight, sound and touch; we have parent seating in our baby corner too!
Pre-walker visitors have not been forgotten, our play space has been designed to safely accommodate your little people are just finding their feet. We have a good selection of age appropriate toys including a jumperoo, push along and ride on toys; and a toddler ball pit; the thick carpeted floors in the play room are perfect for little knees as baby becomes mobile.
*We do kindly ask that the baby corner is reserved for use by pre-walker guests.
